I'm Adriana, a Toronto-based breathing coach and a new mother. I was born in Moldova but have lived in a few countries along the way. As someone who got challenged by serious health conditions, it took courage to stay committed to my belief that self-healing, and especially breath, is the most immediate and sometimes the only true pillar of restoration. Functional breathing changes your body and your mind. It is a full-time function of our body, and if managed efficiently, one is able to experience full-time results. I am a certified Buteyko Method instructor and I incorporate Pranayama, heart coherence, high-performance athletic breathing, and conscious breathing into my practice. I work with individuals who want to take control of their nervous system and reconnect with their happiness. I support those who suffer from the debilitating heaviness of anxiety and depression because I know how much courage it takes to look inward and want to feel free again. I help performers, public speakers and sportspeople enjoy what they do rather than burn out. Efficient breathing is subtle yet powerful and when you change the way you breathe, you change the way you live.

8-WEEK ATHLETIC BREATH PROGRAMDo you enjoy sports but feel breathless or are you simply trying to optimize your physical performance?
The program will be fully customized to your needs and will help improve endurance, muscular recovery, oxygen absorption, CO₂ tolerance, and a higher VO₂ max. If interested, let's talk during your free 45-minute consultation. Sessions are offered in-person, outdoors, or at your local gym in downtown Toronto.
RELAXED EMPLOYEES - CORPORATE PROGRAMSWant to express your gratitude towards your employees or simply looking to invest in your team's wellbeing?
It is so common that people experience email apnea, shallow breathing, or a continuous feeling of breathlessness while trying to multitask. Unfortunately, this physiological response often comes home with us, building into insomnia or poor sleep. Stress related to the workplace is something everyone experiences. While we can't change the workplace, we can change how we respond to it. Breathwork can efficiently influence focus, performance, and cortisol levels.

WHAT DOES SPIRIFY DO?
Spirify offers breathing sessions focused on long-term functional breathing. Staying true to the Buteyko Method, our sessions can be used to manage breathing disorders and conditions such as asthma, sleep apnea, anxiety, panic attacks, high blood pressure and insomnia. For those who exercise, we help them elevate physical and athletic performance (also practised by Oxygen Advantage). Our approach incorporates Pranayama, the Tibetan Tummo-inspired technique (also practised by Wim Hoff), heart-focused and conscious breathing.
We like to fuse the latest scientific research with the timeless wisdom of Indian and Tibetan teachings, offering our clients tools that are evidence-backed and deeply mindful.
THE BUTEYKO METHOD
Through his method, in 1950, Konstantin Buteyko proposed that breathing less, through the nose and tolerating more CO₂ could considerably improve symptoms like asthma, anxiety, and sleep apnea. The Buteyko Method is backed by clinical research demonstrating improved asthma management, reduced medication, and meaningful symptom relief. By addressing dysfunctional breathing patterns at the root, breath retraining supports more efficient respiratory function and nervous system balance, offering measurable change beyond symptom management alone. At the core of the method sit a few principles such as nasal breathing, diaphragmatic engagement, reduced breathing volume with a focus on increasing CO₂ tolerance. Buteyko explained that CO₂ isn’t just a waste gas (the Bohr effect shows that oxygen is released from hemoglobin more effectively in its presence); muscles and tissues can absorb oxygen efficiently only when CO₂ levels are sufficient.
DO YOU PRACTICE ONLY THE BUTEYKO METHOD?
If requested we can apply one method only, otherwise, we prefer to incorporate various approaches for a more diverse exposure to mental and biomechanical changes.
WHAT IS HEALTHY BREATHING?
Healthy breathing is quiet, nasal, diaphragmatic, slow and light with a little pause following the exhale. We believe that a healthy individual should breathe approximately 6 times per minute. We acknowledge that modern life (diet, stress, poor air quality, lifestyle etc.) has been influencing the way we breathe. Dysfunctional breathing can coexist with various health conditions, which if addressed, can offer considerable relief. Incorrect breathing is shallow, from the chest, with an open mouth described by an inability to take more air which leads to repeated and tiring attempts. This is exhausting and leads to breathlessness, hyperventilation, cessation of use of diaphragm, abdominal muscles and rib cage muscles. By incorporating biochemical and biomechanical adjustments, we can influence our physiological state, hence take control of our health. It is grounded in evidence and science.
HOW DO WE WORK?
We take time to discuss your unique physical and/or mental condition, we apply tailored metrics to assess your patterns, we practise together breathing exercises and then we assign you with a weekly plan. The techniaues and exercises will gradually lead to symptom relief, boost oxygenation, improve circulation, enhance concentration and focus and elevate physical performance (if this your aim). Every client also receives lifetime access to recorded versions of the exercises, so you can continue your practice at your own pace and track your growth over time.
ARE RESULTS GUARANTEED?
If you practice correctly, we don’t see why you shouldn’t feel any changes.

Real stories of what it means to #BreathewithSpirify.
"Adriana's compassion, dedication, and deep knowledge of respiratory techniques have made an incredible difference in my health. As someone who deals with asthma, recurring bronchitis, and anxiety disorder, I can say with complete honesty that her guidance has transformed my breathing, my confidence, and my overall well-being. She introduced me to a wide range of techniques each one carefully chosen, patiently explained, and adapted to what my body needed. Through the Buteyko method, she taught me how to take smaller breaths, control air intake, and gently retrain my lungs by using breath holds and slow nasal breathing. This reduced the frequency of my asthma flare-ups. She didn't just teach me these techniques, she practiced them with me, even encouraging me to apply them while walking, not only sitting, which increased my endurance and improved my resilience. The Hum Breathing technique brought new awareness to how my chest and belly moved, while the slow humming helped release tension and regulate my anxiety. Her knowledge extended into Pranayama, especially alternating nostril breathing, which has been one of the most grounding practices for my anxiety. She guided me with patience through each step, ensuring I understood how each side of the breath impacts the body. Thanks to her steady support and her willingness to help me, my life has changed. I experience far fewer asthma episodes. My bronchitis no longer takes control of my seasons. And most importantly, I now have tools that help me manage anxiety before it ever reaches a breaking point. Her generosity, her expertise, and her genuine care make her an outstanding coach and an extraordinary human being. I am deeply grateful for everything she has done for me, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking healing, breath awareness, and compassionate guidance."Faridahnur Ahmad-H Joe
"I’ve worked with Adriana over the past few months, and it has been such a positive experience. She is kind, knowledgeable, and has a brilliant way of working with her clients that makes you feel both supported and empowered. I especially loved working with her online. It was incredibly convenient, yet I still felt fully present and connected, as if I were right there in the room with her. Her scientific understanding of breathwork added so much depth to our sessions. It helped me truly understand what was happening in my body, which made the practice even more impactful. I would absolutely recommend working with Adriana."Suzie Battishill
